REAL BRIDE JAMIE
My bridesmaids and I all got ready at my parents’ home where I grew up.
The morning ran smoothly while we had our hair and makeup done and even sneaked in a few glasses of champagne. One of the highlights of getting ready was finally being able to wear my Michelle Pagonis Crown. I received so many compliments and it even got a mention by my husband during his speech later on at the reception. As I didn’t want to wear any jewellery other than my earrings and engagement ring. My crown was a perfect piece to add to my overall look and topped it off beautifully.
Our 17 month old son, Peter, was also being christened on the day so we had to spend some time getting him all suited up for his big day. My soon to be husband, Joseph, and his groomsmen were preparing for the day at his parents’ home and took some great shots. The photographer and videographer did a great job making sure to capture beautiful moments with our bridal party and family members.
As I am of Greek Orthodox faith, the service was carried out in the church my family and I have been attending since I was a little girl, The Transfiguration of Our Lord.
It was a very traditional service that had us wearing joining wreaths to symbolise our union and also take our first steps as husband and wife around the altar.
Our son’s baptism soon followed after the wedding ceremony. This too was traditional and Peter made it quite obvious he wasn’t enjoying himself. (There was lot of tears)
My new husband and I, along with our bridal party, were taken to the beautiful laneways Melbourne CBD had to offer for some fun photos. We were also driven to Port Melbourne by Enrik Limousines to capture some fun moments in the sun. We all had a great time and thanks to the greatest maid of honour in the world, Olivia, we didn’t starve as she had packed an assortment of snacks and drinks to keep us energised.
Joseph, Peter and I had entered into our reception to all our guests and were instantly full of joy. We were finally able to relax, eat, drink, mingle and party the night away. I cried during our first dance as it all became so overwhelming and our little boy had joined us for our first dance as husband and wife.
Truly a moment I’ll never forget.
